GEORGIA SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE GLENN RICHARDSON ENDORSES JOHN MCCAIN FOR PRESIDENT

U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that Georgia Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson has endorsed John McCain for president.

"John McCain will cut wasteful government spending, defend us against the threat of radical Islamic extremism, and appoint conservative judges to our courts," said Speaker Richardson. "I hope Georgians will join me in supporting Senator McCain in the February 5th primary and helping ensure his victory in November."

John McCain thanked Speaker Richardson for his support, saying, "Glenn is a great leader in the state of Georgia. I truly appreciate his support, and I am honored to have him on our team."
In 1996, Glenn Richardson became the first Republican from Paulding County elected to the Georgia House of Representatives since Reconstruction. As a result of his role in securing Republican control of the House for the first time since Reconstruction, in 2005 Richardson was chosen by his colleagues to serve as the first Republican Speaker of the House in over 130 years.
