FORMER OHIO CONGRESSMAN ROB PORTMAN ENDORSES JOHN MCCAIN FOR PRESIDENT

U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that former Ohio Congressman Rob Portman endorses John McCain for president.

"I am proud today to announce my support for Senator John McCain to be the next President of the United States," said Congressman Portman. "John McCain is a proven leader with a track record of breaking through partisan gridlock in Washington, D.C. and achieving results in the national interest. He has been an effective champion for fiscal responsibility and pro-growth economic policies. No one is a more committed advocate for our men and women in uniform, and no one understands better the threats America faces. John McCain is the right choice for Ohioans to keep our nation secure and to get our economy back on track."

John McCain thanked Congressman Portman, saying, "Rob has served the people of Ohio and our nation with distinction, I look forward to his counsel and am grateful for his support."
Former Congressman Portman, a Cincinnati native, represented Ohio's second district from 1993-2005. After leaving Congress Portman went on to serve as the United States Trade Representative, a position with the rank of Ambassador. From 2006-2007 Portman served as Director of the Office of Management and Budget. He is currently of counsel with the Cincinnati office of the law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey.
