MIAMI-DADE COMMISSIONER JOE A. MARTINEZ ENDORSES JOHN MCCAIN FOR PRESIDENT

U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that Miami-Dade Commissioner Joe A. Martinez has endorsed John McCain for president.

"It is with distinct pride that I am supporting Senator John McCain for the highest office in this land," Commissioner Martinez said. "Senator McCain is well respected by Miami-Dade's residents who value his unparalleled leadership and integrity."

John McCain thanked Martinez, saying, "Joe is an influential and well-respected member of the Miami-Dade community. His experience is a welcomed addition to our campaign in the Sunshine State."

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Joe A. Martinez was first elected to represent the residents of District 11 in October 2000 and was re-elected for his second term in July 2004. In November 2004, Commissioner Joe A. Martinez served Miami-Dade County as chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. He became the first Hispanic elected by his peers to hold this position in the 60 years of Miami-Dade County's governance.
