July 4th Message from Karen Handel, Candidate for GA Governor

As we head out for 4th of July travels, attend parades, or gather with family and friends for backyard cookouts and fireworks, let's all pause to remember the significance of Independence Day. On this day, we celebrate our nation's birth and the establishment of the freedoms we all hold so dear. July 4th is also the day to reflect on the sacrifices of so many throughout history and today to protect and maintain these freedoms.

Right now, thousands of Georgia men and women are deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

We are blessed to live in the United States of America -- which is indeed the "sweet land of liberty." When the moment comes in your celebrations for the playing of our National Anthem or other patriotic songs, I hope you will not only stand, but sing loud and proud in honor of this great Nation and in honor of the brave men and women who gave their full measure so that we can enjoy our freedoms. "From every mountainside, let freedom ring."

Steve and I hope you have a great Independence Day weekend. May God bless you, our great state, and the United States of America!
